The Diary of a Bookseller really needs little introduction, it is what the title suggests a year in the life of a second-hand bookseller. A fun and insightful read that gives the reader true insight into life as a bookseller in a world of death by Amazon. Incredibly frank and honest, it will leave you contemplating how you support the industry and perhaps lead you to changing some of your habits. I for one am less inclined to shop online after reading it as I truly appreciate what it is that independent booksellers do for the industry.
One thing you might not expect with this one is how laugh out loud funny it is. While it is the perfect read for booklovers it is also an entertaining read for anyone who has worked in a job where they have to encounter people and the stupid, obnoxious things that they do. Whether you have worked in retail, hospitality or even health (and who, as a result, kinda hate people) you will love our hero’s wit and inability to back down. This was such a fun and entertaining read that I flew through it and am already awaiting the next instalment. A great fun read for any booklover and also a great gift for the book lover in you life, I highly recommend giving this one a go.
